There was something undifferentiated and yet complete,
which existed before Heaven and Earth.
Soundless and formless, it depends on nothing and does not change.
It operates everywhere and is free from danger.
It may be considered the mother of the universe.

In spirituality, there are only three possible objectives: The Grand Prize, which is Human Adulthood; the Consolation Prize, which is Contentment in Captivity; and the Booby Prize, which is Spiritual Enlightenment. Some might argue for a fourth category, Adventures in Consciousness, achieved via meditation, breathwork, entheogens, neo-shamanism and so on, but those are just broader and less traveled dimensions of the dreamstate and only qualify for the consolation prize.
